Current emergencies

Hurricane Milton – Florida (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on October 08, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in the State of Florida, effective retrospectively since October 05, 2024. 

Hurricane Helene – South Carolina and Tennessee (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on September 30, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in the State of South Carolina, effective retrospectively since September 25, 2024, and the State of Tennessee, effective retrospectively since September 26, 2024.

Hurricane Helene – North Carolina (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on September 28, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in the State of North Carolina, effective retrospectively since September 25, 2024. 

Hurricane Helene – Florida and Georgia (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) for the State of Florida on September 26, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in Florida, effective retrospectively since September 23, 2024 and for the State of Georgia on September 27, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in Georgia, effective retrospectively since September 24, 2024.

Hurricane Francine – Louisiana (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on September 12, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in the State of Louisiana, effective retrospectively since September 10, 2024. 

Hurricane Debby – Georgia and South Carolina (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on August 07, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in the States of Georgia and South Carolina, effective retrospectively since August 04, 2024. 

Hurricane Debby – Florida (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on August 06, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in Florida, effective retrospectively since August 01, 2024. 

Hurricane Beryl – Texas (2024)  

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on July 12, 2024, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in Texas, effective retrospectively since July 05, 2024. 

Wildfires - Hawaii (2023)

Secretary Becerra used his authority in the Public Health Service Act to declare a public health emergency (PHE) on August 11, 2023, giving us the flexibility to support our beneficiaries in Hawaii, effective retrospectively since August 8, 2023. As a result of the continued consequences of the wildfires, a PHE extension has been signed on October 31, 2023, allowing us to continue to support our beneficiaries in Hawaii, for an additional 90 days if needed.
